Loom Knitting

At the beginning of the Pandemic, when we could not go out except for essentials,  one of our daughters was very thoughtful, and arrived with a number of activities to keep us occupied during those long hours.  One of those activities was a loom knitting set. I was soon curious and decided to give it a try.

Scrolling through YouTube, I found an appealing tutorial and so began my beanie making venture!  One of my friends, very kindly, donated a bountiful supply of wool, so I can continue to knit beanies for a long time yet.

To be honest, I haven’t kept a record of how many I have made so far, but it must be something like two hundred to three hundred beanies.

Firstly, my family put their orders with their colour preferences.  Then I gave some to a  local church that helps people stay warm in the winter months. I have also made a lot of baby beanies and given them to friends who take them to different hospitals around Brisbane.

The remainder have been sent to Asia to keep high school students warm during the chilly months of the year.

It is my intention to keep making as many as possible while I am able, as it is a small thing that I can do to help others.
