Emotions & Closed Borders


When the unknown becomes the norm
around which routines navigate,
when insecurity reigns
but hands and feet continue to move
to feed to nurture to sustain. 
When our hearts beat with hope
but the ‘look’ of our tomorrows
refuse to take a sustainable form.

When adult children overseas
feel the constrains of closed borders
and locked down family lives.
When helplessness, and despondency
want to become our regular loaders.
When our emotions get depleted
our tanks run on low,
longing to hug and be hugged
for a time and another in a row.

Then will I lift up my eyes,
from whence will my help come?
Then will I lift up my voice 
and cry out from the depths of my void,
